Chainsaw Man is a Japanese action, horror, and comedy manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto. It was first serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from December 2018 to December 2020. After much anticipation, the second part of the series will begin to run in the Jump+ digital manga magazine in July.
Chainsaw Man follows the story of a simple man named Denji, a small-time devil hunter just trying to survive in this dangerous and harsh world. With little money and very few prospects, he will do anything to earn a living in the hopes of getting out from under a mountain of debt. Unfortunately for Denji, his job is not the safest and comes with risks, which is very obvious when he is betrayed by someone he trusts and killed on the job.
Thankfully, however, he is revived by his pet devil, Pochita. But in return for allowing the devil to reside inside himself, he has become something else. With his new and dangerous form, he has become Chainsaw Man. The manga is filled with twists and turns, mystery, danger, and abundant gore and blood. So, it should only be read by mature audiences.
An announcement tweet from Chainsaw Man’s official Twitter account confirmed that the second part of the series would begin on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.
For those wanting to read the Chainsaw Man in English, it is available on Viz Media.
Chainsaw Man is also being adapted into an anime directed by Ryu Nakayama and Makoto Nakazono and animation production by MAPPA. The anime series will be broadcasted in Japan and streamed on Crunchyroll in early Summer 2022. The official date has not been revealed.
