Rod Laver Arena is set to host the women’s semifinals on Thursday at the 2023 Australian Open in Melbourne. The first matchup of the night session will be between No. 22-seed Elena Rybakina and No. 24-seed Victoria Azarenka. Last year’s Wimbledon champion has had a tough road to get to the final four, facing No. 13-seed Danielle Collins in the third round (6-2, 5-7, 6-2). Then, Rybakina faced No. 1 in the world Iga Światek in the fourth round on Saturday to advance to the top eight (6-4, 6-4). In the quarters, Rybakina beat No. 17-seeded Jelena Ostapenko to advance to the final four (6-2, 6-4).

Azarenka’s toughest matchup, meanwhile, was the quarterfinal against No. 3-seeded American Jessica Pegula on Tuesday night. The two-time Australian Open champion (2012, 2013) won in straight sets to advance to the final four (6-4, 6-1).
In the other semifinal matchup, No. 5-seed Aryna Sabalenka will be going up against Polish star Magda Linette right after the Rybakina-Azarenka match wraps up.
