After nearly doubling their season win total in two weeks, the Chicago Blackhawks skate into Vancouver to face the Canucks, who have dropped 10 of their last 12 games and have lost three straight games at home. Chicago had just eight wins on the season after a loss to Tampa Bay on Jan. 3, but since then have ripped off a pair of three-game winning streaks, as the offense has begun to find its scoring punch. It’s tallied four or more goals five times in its last seven games. The Canucks were a game over .500 in the final week of 2022, but with just two wins since Dec. 29, Vancouver has dropped to seven games under and trail division leading Vegas by 21 points.

Vancouver center Elias Petterson has a team-high 54 points this season, tied for 17th in the NHL. The fifth overall pick by the Canucks in the 2017 NHL draft, Petterson needs five assists to break a career-high of 39, which he set during the 2019-20 season. 

Despite not scoring a power play goal in four straight games, the Blackhawks have a chance tonight as they face Vancouver’s 32nd ranked penalty kill unit that has surrendered nine goals in its last seven games.

The Canucks have won four of the last five in this series dating back to 2019, with Chicago’s lone win coming at Vancouver in Nov. 2021.
