Mississippi State (2-1, 0-1 SEC) suffered its first loss of the 2022 season last week, falling 31-16 in its conference opener on the road against LSU. On Saturday, the Bulldogs return to Davis Wade Stadium and will look to get back in the win column when they take on Bowling Green (1-2) in non-conference action. This will be just the second-ever matchup between these two schools in football. Their only other meeting came in 2013, when Bowling Green nearly pulled up an upset in Starkville, only for Mississippi State to come out on top 21-20. Can Bowling Green pull off that magic again?

Junior quarterback Will Rodgers has shown plenty of improvement for Mississippi State early this season. Through three games, he’s completed 72.1% of his passes for 977 yards and 10 touchdowns with just three interceptions.
Junior running back Dillon Johnson has been a workhorse for the Bulldog offense behind Rodgers. He leads the team with 49 touches and 279 all-purpose yards and is the leading rusher and receiver on the roster.
On the other side, Bowling Green comes in after back-to-back overtime games. The Falcons fell 69-67 to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels in a seven-overtime game two weeks ago, then beat Marshall 34-31 in their Sun Belt opener last week, just one week after Marshall knocked off Notre Dame.
