Canada opened up play in the cup against Switzerland, beating them 14-0. The team continued to roll beating Slovakia 9-1 and then Sweden 3-0. In the three games of preliminary play, Canada’s goal differential was 26-1. That steamroll continued into the semifinal game where it was matched with Finland. Canada didn’t waste any time getting on the score sheet as Ethan Gauthier scored at the end of the first period. Calum Ritchie added another goal for Canada in the second period, and then Matthew Wood and Denver Barkey piled it on in the third winning 4-1.

Sweden beat Slovakia and Switzerland before losing to Canada in the team’s last preliminary round matchup 3-0. Canada scored in the first and two in the second periods. 

In the quarterfinal matchup, Sweden took on the Czech Republic. Zeb Forsfjäll scored in the first period to put Sweden up 1-0. Noel Nordh added to that lead in the second before Czech scored its first goal. Noah Nilsson, Otto Stenberg (2), and Wille Johansson added four more goals for Sweden in the win.
