The Cards are 8-2 this season against the Pirates. On Thursday in St. Louis, the Cardinals fell to the Nationals 11-6 despite getting two homers from 40-year-old Yadier Molina.

Right-hander Roansy Contreras opens the series for Pittsburgh. The 22-year-old rookie is 4-4 in 16 appearances and 13 starts with a 3.41 ERA and 1.311 WHIP in 74 innings. He allowed just one run on four hits in six innings on Saturday but got no decision in a loss to the Blue Jays.

The Cards will go with All-Star Miles Milolas. The 34-year-old right-hander has made 28 starts and is 11-10 with a 3.32 ERA and 1.009 WHIP in 176-and-one-third innings. Mikolas allowed just two hits in eight shutout innings to beat the Cubs on Sunday.
