Then, the second game on Wednesday was unfortunately canceled due to inclement weather and will not be made up at this stage in the season, making this the final game between the two teams in this series. The Pelicans jumped out to a 3-0 lead to start the game on Tuesday before the game was tied heading into the 10th inning and ending with a 5-4 for the home win.

So far this season, both teams are in second place in their divisions in the Carolina League of minor league baseball. The Mudcats are sitting in second place in the north behind the Fredericksburg FredNats while the Pelicans are in second place in the south behind the Charleston RiverDogs.

There are only four games left in the regular season for both teams counting today’s matchup. Neither team has the potential or ability to catch the teams they are chasing in their divisions, but the Pelicans can improve their record and gain more momentum heading into the playoffs next week as the Mudcats are already eliminated.
