It is the last series between the two division rivals with the Pirates winning eight of the first 15 matchups. The Cubs come into the opener on a two-game winning streak after they came back to beat the Marlins the last two days. On Tuesday, they came back from a 1-0 deficit, and on Wednesday, they battled back from being down 3-0. The back-to-back wins improved their record to 64-85 as they continue to try and play well down the stretch and into next year.

The Pirates, though, will be happy to see someone other than the New York Yankees or the New York Mets after dropping five straight in New York. Against the Yankees, the Pirates blew a four-run ninth-inning lead on Tuesday and then got blown out 14-2 on Wednesday.

The Cubs will look to extend the Pirates’ losing streak and even the season series with them.
