After knocking off No. 5 Tennessee last week, No. 1 Georgia (9-0, 6-0) is back at the top of all the major polls, including the college football playoff rankings. With the Bulldogs’ toughest test of November now out of the way, the defending champions look to finish their playoff push strong. They’ll be on the road this Saturday, taking on Mississippi State (6-3, 3-3 SEC) at Davis Wade Stadium. Georgia has won three games in a row against Mississippi State going back to 2011 and has won 12 of 13 games going all the way back to 1975. Mississippi State’s lone win in that stretch came in 2010. Georgia leads the all-time series 19-6.

Last week, Georgia held Tennessee’s high-flying offense – which was averaging almost 50 points per game – to 13 points in a 27-13 win. The Vols averaged just 3.9 yards per play in that game and were two-for-14 on third down. Georgia’s defense is now allowing 10.8 points per game. That ranks second in the nation, just a fraction of a point behind the Illinois Fighting Illini.

This week, Georgia will have to deal with Mississippi State’s Air Raid passing game designed by Mike Leach. Junior quarterback Will Rogers ranks sixth in the nation with 2,912 passing yards.
