This season the Oklahoma City Thunder (7-9) have left one phase of their rebuilding project and have entered another. They are no longer looking for ways to lose for better lottery odds, they are looking for ways to win because all of their high end draft picks are too good to lose now. Especially Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who has entered the All-NBA and MVP conversation early this season. There are five players averaging 30+ points per game playing at least 15 games: Luka Doncic, Stephen Curry, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant and Gilgeous-Alexander. He looks to continue that against the New York Knicks (8-9) on Monday.

At 24-years-old Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 31.1 points, 5.9 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game as one of the most unguardable players in the league.
Part of what has helped in the evolution of Gilgeous-Alexander this season is the play of the Thunder young core.
Lu Dort, Josh Giddey and Tre Mann are all averaging in double-figures, which takes some pressure off their elite scorer. Another huge factor has been the improvement of Aleksej Pokusevski on both ends of the floor.
He has gone from a novelty to a legitimate two-way forward in the NBA that holds his own on both ends of the floor.
