Laver Cup 2022 is officially here with several exciting matchups on the horizon over the next three days. The day session on Friday features a couple of singles matchups, the first between U.S. Open finalist Casper Ruud and American Jack Sock, followed by the battle between No. 6 in the world Stefanos Tsitsipas and top-20 Argentine Diego Schwartzman. The night session later begins with the singles match between three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray and 23-year-old Australian Alex de Minaur. The night session will then be capped off with the big ticket showdown, Roger Federer’s final match at the professional level: a doubles match alongside fellow big-three member Rafael Nadal up against U.S. Open semifinalist Frances Tiafoe playing with Sock.

41-year-old Federer, the winner of 20 Grand Slam titles, announced just last week that he is retiring due to ongoing knee trouble. The Swiss legend went up against Nadal 40 times in his storied career, winning 14 of those matchups including their most recent showdown at the 2019 Wimbledon semifinals.
“It’s super special playing with Rafa, to be able to do that one more time, it’s going to be wonderful,” Federer said in a presser leading up to the final professional match of his fabled career. Federer and Nadal also teamed up for a doubles match just once before, winning against Sock and Sam Querrey at the inaugural Laver Cup back in 2017.
