While the Chicago Bears aren’t where they want to be on the season at 3-6, the future still looks very bright. That’s because Justin Fields looks like he’s the real deal, turning the corner in his second season as Chicago’s QB. While the Bears are 1-2 in their last three games, it hasn’t been because of a lack of offense. Fields is the major factor there and no game exhibited that better than last week’s game against the Miami Dolphins. The Bears lost to the Dolphins 35-32 but it wasn’t a lack of effort on Fields’ part. The Ohio State standout rushed for an NFL record 178 yards by a quarterback with a rushing touchdown. The previous record was held by Michael Vick, who rushed for 173 in 2002.

Fields also threw for another three touchdowns. For the presence of Fields alone, Chicago should be favored at home today.
The Detroit Lions shouldn’t be slept on though despite their 2-6 as they are coming off their biggest win of the season. Detroit beat Green Bay 15-9 as the Packers continue to freefall. The win broke a five-game losing streak for Detroit. Even though the Lions are still rebuilding, they’ve hung offensively with many good teams this season including shootouts against the Seahawks, Dolphins and the undefeated Eagles. Detroit lost in all those games by just a combined 10 points. The Bears can’t take the Lions for granted are they may get caught flat-footed like the Packers last week.
