They stayed hot on Monday when they beat the Nationals 7-3 in the opening game of their three-game set.

The winning streak has put them three and a half games up on the second-place Braves and has them just four games back of the Dodgers for the best record in the National League.

Tuesday they will look to keep it rolling as they go for their eighth straight win as Jacob deGrom makes his season debut. He has been out all season with a shoulder injury, but will finally make his first start of the season.

The Nationals, though, will be looking to spoil his return as they try and snap the Mets’ winning streak.

The Nationals could look different when they take the field on Tuesday night as the trade deadline is at 6 pm ET. They are rumored to be shopping start Juan Soto, but no deal has been made as of this writing.
