Despite the fact that it’s been 10 years since the SEC expanded, the Missouri Tigers (2-1) and Auburn Tigers (2-1) have only played each other twice as conference opponents. They’ll add a third meeting to that list on Saturday when they face each other at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Missouri is coming in off a win, having defeated the FC Abilene Christian Wildcats 34-17 last week. On the other side, Auburn is trying to rebound from a 41-12 loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions, which came after a 2-0 start with wins over the Mercer Bears and the San Jose State Spartans.

Auburn has won both SEC matchups between these teams. The first such game actually came in 2012 – the year of the expansion – in the SEC Championship Game. That was a 59-42 shootout. They then met again in the regular season in 2017 in Columbia, which saw a 51-14 win for the road team.

They also had one previous meeting, before they were conference opponents. That came in the 1973 Sun Bowl, a 34-17 win for Missouri.
