UIC (2-1) and Fordham (2-1) are coming off wins earlier this week and meet on Saturday at Rose Hill Gym in the Bronx. Luke Yaklich is in his third season as head coach of the Flames, with a record of 25-30. UIC hasn’t been to the NCAA tournament since 2004 but played in the championship game of the 2018 CIT. The Rams are under first-year head coach Keith Urgo, who spent last season as associate head coach under Kyle Neptune. Neptune left for Villanova in April. Fordham last played in the NCAA tournament in 1992 and its lone postseason bid since the turn of the millennium came in the 2016 CIT.

Toby Okani’s free throws with eight seconds left secured a 67-60 win for the Flames over visiting Jacksonville State on Monday. UIC led by as much as 11 in the second half before the Gamecocks cut the deficit to two with 29 seconds remaining. Jace Carter had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Flames while Tre Anderson added 20 points and five assists.
On Tuesday night, Fordham bounced back from a blowout loss at then-No. 10 Arkansas to beat New Hampshire at home 79-61. The Rams ran out to a 14-2 lead in the first 4:15 and led by as much as 28. Darius Quisenberry pumped in 17 points for Fordham while Khalid Moore added 16.
Saturday night’s game is the first meeting between UIC and Fordham.
