Wisconsin (4-1) gave defending national champion Kansas all it wanted in the semifinals of the Battle 4 Atlantis on Paradise Island in the Bahamas before falling to the No. 3 Jayhawks in overtime on Thursday. The Badgers will now face USC (3-2) in the third-place game of the tournament after the Trojans also lost in overtime to No. 22 Tennessee. Tyler Wahl leads Wisconsin in scoring and rebounding at 14.0 points and 7.4 boards per game while Boogie Ellis paces the USC attack with 18.5 points a game while Drew Peterson is putting up 14.7 points, 7.8 rebounds and 7.2 assists. Greg Gard is 148-79 in his eighth season with the Badgers and Andy Enfield has a record of 187-120 in his 10th year at USC.

Kansas led by as much as 15 before Wisconsin began to chip away at the deficit and led 63-60 before the Jayhawks got a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left in regulation to tie it. In overtime, Bobby Pettiford’s put back with 0.2 seconds left gave Kansas a 69-68 win. Wahl had 23 points and 10 rebounds for Wisconsin and Connor Essegian added 17 points.
USC and Tennessee each missed potential game-winning 3s in the final 34 seconds before the Volunteers pulled away in overtime for a 73-66 victory. Ellis dropped in 21 points for the Trojans and Tre White added 11.
Friday will mark the fourth meeting between Wisconsin and USC, with the Trojans holding a 2-1 lead in the all-time series. It’s been nearly 40 years since the last matchup, an 86-76 USC victory in Los Angeles on Dec. 29, 1982.
