MLB DFS: Top DraftKings and FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, lineup advice for Saturday, May 14, 2022

Starting pitching is always critical in MLB daily Fantasy, with pitchers often earning 50-60 points for a dominant outing. But when there are a lack of upper-echelon options it becomes critical to slot in starters with upside based on their matchups. Getting that right allows for you to splurge elsewhere in your MLB DFS lineups, and there is no shortage of red-hot position players for Saturday’s action.

The Yankees have scored 25 runs already in the first two games of a four-game series with the White Sox and Giancarlo Stanton has belted a pair of home runs in those games. He’s now up to 30 RBI in 30 games, and will be one of the more popular options in the MLB DFS player pool for the third game of the series. Which other players should you target on Saturday? Before making any MLB DFS picks, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Friday, he highlighted Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi in his MLB DFS player pool on both FanDuel and DraftKings. The result: Benintendi went 3-for-6 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs to return 31 points on DraftKings and 40.9 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, as the 2022 MLB season continues, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Saturday, May 14. Head to SportsLine now to see them

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Saturday, May 14, 2022

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Saturday is Benintendi again ($4,600 on DraftKings and $2,900 on FanDuel). Benintendi’s outing on Friday raised his OPS from .748 to .806 and he’s now slashing .324/.374/.432 on the season after falling a single short of hitting for the cycle.

The 27-year-old now has 11 multi-hit games on the season and a 24-run game on Friday night in Coors Field seems to bode well for the offensive putout in this series. The over-under for Saturday’s game is listed at 11 and Benintendi will get a juicy matchup with German Marquez, who has a 6.47 ERA on the season with six home runs surrendered in 32 innings.

Another part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes rostering Astros second baseman Jose Altuve ($4,900 on DraftKings and $3,400 on FanDuel). The 2017 AL MVP and three-time batting champion isn’t quite as much of a contact menace as he was at his peak, but he continues to showcase growing power in the later stages of his career.

Altuve has hit 31 home runs in each of the last two full MLB seasons and he’s already hit six home runs despite playing in just 20 games in 2022. His .236 BABIP is 92 points below his career average but his .250 ISO is a career-high so he’s probably due for better batted-ball luck while continuing to drive the ball with authority, making him a high-upside play against Erick Fedde and the Nationals on Saturday.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for Saturday, May 14, 2022

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Saturday. The stars are aligning for him to return tournament-winning value and he comes at a price that won’t break the bank. You can only see who it is here.
