No inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper games in development, Sucker Punch confirms

Fans of Sly Cooper and inFAMOUS are in for bad news.

The era of the PlayStation 2 and 3 was one of the most memorable periods of gaming history the console developer has seen. There was an abundance of action-adventure games and platformers that seemed to attract a cult following right as consoles were starting to become really popular. For this reason, many players still go back to these games to relive a part of their childhood.

During this period of gaming, several franchises were born that are still popular to this day. Games like Sly Cooper and Infamous provided a lot of adventure to younger players at the time. Unfortunately, there isn’t any chance of a new game coming to either franchise anytime soon, according to a statement from the developer, Sucker Punch.

Sucker Punch confirms that there are no games in the Sly Cooper or inFAMOUS series being made in-house or from any other developers. Part of the statement reads, “These characters are very special and near and dear to our hearts, so while we’d never say never to re-opening those doors down the road, for now there are no inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper games in development.”

While they don’t have any intention of making new games, SP states that it is looking to keep the servers running for inFAMOUS 2. While it will eventually take these servers offline, it’s aware that players are still playing on them for the time being. SP is also releasing the Cole’s Legacy DLC for inFAMOUS Second Son, which includes new missions that take place between inFAMOUS 2 and Second Son.

Lastly, the developer confirms that it’s working on something new, but doesn’t elaborate beyond that. It’s likely either a new IP or a follow-up to the recently released Ghost of Tsushima. It’s been nine years since the last Sly Cooper game and eight years since Second Son, but it looks like it’ll be past a decade before players see these franchises again.
