Steven Spielberg, Rachel Zegler joked about their lack of experience on ‘West Side Story’ – Los Angeles News
She informed Total Film journal: “I’m pretty sure the only musical-esque thing he’s done is ‘Anything Goes’ in ‘Temple of Doom’! Whenever we would read things from sceptics – about Spielberg doing a musical – I’m like, ‘That’s one of the most incredible film openings ever!’
“But we positively had conversations. I had by no means achieved a movie earlier than. And he’d by no means achieved a musical earlier than. We would make jokes that we have been going to show one another the way it’s achieved!”
Zegler found stepping on set for her first movie role a “terrifying experience”, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
However, seeing the movie as a whole has made her realise the finished product is “fairly darn superior”.
She added: “I meant, it was completely a terrifying experience for me within the second. But I’ve seen the completed product now. And I’m not scared anymore, which is nice. That’s an enormous praise to Steven. We simply did the most effective we might and the most effective we might is fairly darn superior.”
