Last October, Glover Teixeira became the oldest first-time champion in UFC history at age 42. The light heavyweight king makes his first title defense Saturday against a young and hungry prospect in second-ranked Jiri Prochazka in the main event of UFC 275. The main UFC 275 fight card is set for 10 p.m. ET from Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. Teixeira has won six straight and hasn’t tasted defeat in nearly four years. Even so, he is an underdog against the 29-year-old Prochazka, who is widely regarded as one of the most well-rounded fighters the light heavyweight division has seen in recent memory.
Caesars Sportsbook lists Prochazka as a -200 favorite (risk $200 to win $100), while Teixeira comes back at +170 in the Teixeira vs. Procházka odds. Women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko is the -700 favorite in the UFC 275 odds as she takes on No. 4 contender Taila Santos (+500) in another title fight that will serve as the co-main event. Marley kicked off the 2022 UFC season in January by telling SportsLine members to support Calvin Kattar (+200) against Giga Chikadze (-240) in the featherweight main event. Kattar’s lopsided unanimous-decision victory gave Marley’s followers another easy winner. Anyone who has followed him is way up.

UFC 275: Teixeira vs. Prochazka preview
Teixeira (33-7) has long been regarded as one of the most prolific grapplers to ever wear the UFC uniform, and his expertise in that discipline has allowed him to reach the apex of his career at age 42. Although he can still hold his own in the stand-up game, the Brazilian has made it a priority to get his opponents to the mat and, once he does, they are usually doomed.
Teixeira submitted the battle-tested Blachowicz with little trouble, and he also submitted rising prospects Karl Roberson and Ion Cutelaba as part of a five-fight winning streak that earned him his second title shot.
The champion will again need to rely on his ground game to beat Prochazka (28-3-1), who is a feared striker and one of the most anticipated UFC free-agent signees in recent memory.
The 29-year-old Czech Republic native has 25 knockouts among his 28 career victories, and he became a dominant champion in the respected Rizin promotion. His last fight with Rizin resulted in a first-round knockout of UFC alum C.B. Dollaway, and Prochazka was immediately pressed into action against top-five competition in the UFC.
Last May, he overcame some early adversity in a title-eliminator against recent title challenger Dominick Reyes and stopped Reyes in the second round of a see-saw brawl that saw both combatants earn Fight of the Night bonuses. See who to back here.
UFC 275 picks, best bets
We’ll share one of Marley’s UFC 275 selections here: He is siding with Joanna Jedrzejczyk (+140) to get her hand raised against Zhang Weili (-160) in a matchup of women’s strawweight contenders on the main card.
Both women are former division champions who are vying for another title shot with a win Saturday. They met at UFC 248 in March 2020 in an action-packed brawl that is widely regarded as one of the greatest women’s title fights in UFC history. Both received Fight of the Night honors for the bout that saw Weili make her only successful title defense with a split decision.
Weili (21-3) went on to lose the title and subsequent rematch against Namajunas, while Jedrzejczyk (16-4) hasn’t fought since the memorable first encounter with Weili.
“With three different judges, we could have seen a different outcome,” Marley told SportsLine. “I am hoping to see a similar fight to the first and Jedrzejczyk is my pick because of these odds. I would much rather be holding that underdog ticket in a super close fight.”
